The Faculty of Pharmacy presents special programs keeping pace with the developments of the labor market

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ihab Fattouh, Dean of the faculty of Pharmacy, declared that the faculty was established by a republican decision in 2006. The faculty has graduated, so far, 12 batches of reputable qualified pharmacists in the labor market. Since its establishment, the faculty has been striving to achieve its distinctive vision to be a distinguished academic edifice in pharmaceutical education, scientific research, and community services locally, regionally and internationally. It is worth noting that the faculty is committed to providing an academic and educational research environment to bring out qualified pharmacists to work in the market, participate in preparing scientific research and take part in community service and environmental development within the framework of professional values ​​and ethics to achieve sustainable development. This effort comes under the support of Dr. Muhammad Kamal Mustafa, the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry Muhammad Abd al-Nabi, President of the University, and under the supervision of a group of distinguished faculty members.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University stated that the experiences and capabilities of the faculty help the graduates excel and succeed in practical and scientific life after graduation. He pointed out that the faculty of Pharmacy has obtained a quality accreditation certificate from the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation (NAQAAE) by a decision No. (194) dated 21/1/2019. Moreover, the academic degrees awarded by the faculty are approved by the Supreme Council of Universities and the Ministry of Higher Education.

Dr. Mohamed Ihab Fattouh indicated that the faculty administration aims to enhance and upgrade pharmaceutical education through adding advanced programs that have been developed according to the latest international methods in pharmaceutical education to keep pace with renewable industry techniques and labor market requirements and achieve the faculty’s competitiveness. It seeks, as well, to establish a supportive infrastructure for the educational process at the faculty to create an environment that stimulates learning and intellectual creativity to develop human resources at the faculty, and to follow up and support graduates.

The Dean explained that the faculty has departments: “Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Microbiology and Immunology, Pharmacognosy and Herbal Medicine, Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy, and Biochemistry,” besides the faculty’s scientific programs:

Firstly, the program of B.A in Pharmacy “The Pharm D Program” and its objectives:

  • Graduating distinguished pharmacists qualified to work in public and private pharmacies, pharmaceutical factories and companies, drug control laboratories, food analysis and work in the field of media, marketing, research and universities.
  • Preparing pharmacists capable of using evidence-based data to provide contemporary pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical services in addition to being proficient in effective communication, leadership, management and entrepreneurship skills.
  • Graduating pharmacists able to be lifelong learners with the aim of keeping sustainable professional development and to have the ability to achieve performance evaluation and self-evaluation skills.
  • Increasing the competitiveness of the program’s graduates at the regional level through studying and training programs.
  • Participating in community service, environmental development and providing a tangible economic income through rationalizing the use of medicines in hospitals.
  • Committing to achieve quality standards in pharmaceutical education through interactive education and paying attention to self-learning.

Secondly, the program of B.A in Pharmacy “The PharmD Program” “Clinical Pharmacy” and its objectives:

  • Focusing on the role of pharmacists in providing appropriate health care to patients inside and outside hospitals through following up the patients’ medication regimen, studying the principles of clinical pharmacokinetics and their applications in treatment in different disease states to find appropriate treatment regimens in cooperation with the treating physician. This way improves patients’ care and reduces drug interactions and risks.
  • Graduating distinguished pharmacists qualified to work in public and private pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, drug control laboratories, food analysis and work in the field of media, marketing, research and universities.
  • Increasing the competitiveness of the program’s graduates at the regional level through studying and training programs.
  • Participating in community service, environmental development and providing a tangible economic income through rationalizing the use of medicines in hospitals.
  • Committing to achieving quality standards in pharmaceutical education through interactive education and paying attention to self-learning.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Egyptian Russian University pointed out that the faculty administration encourages students to participate positively in scientific projects and various student activities because of its impact on skills development and talent refinement. His Excellency indicated that the university administration provides all means of support to the scientific society for the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy (EPSF), which was established in 2008, with the aim of improving the capabilities of pharmacy students. The association includes a large group of distinguished students scientifically and morally. The association has been evaluated as one of the top five scientific societies at the level of the Egyptian Federation of Pharmacy Students, which includes 34 scientific societies, for the year 2019/2020. The association has many achievements in the field of community service and awareness; the association carries out blood donation and awareness campaigns for continuous donation, as well as many awareness campaigns outside the university.

Last but not least, Dr. Mohamed Ihab Fattouh expressed his wishes for excellence and success to everyone to meet expectations scientifically and behaviorally, not only by studying at the faculty of Pharmacy, but also by adhering to the long-standing university values ​​and traditions.
