The Egyptian Russian University welcomes the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils

Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry, the President of the Egyptian Russian University, hosts Prof. Dr. Abdel Majid bin Amara, the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, on 28th of Septemper. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Essam Khamis, the Vice President of the University, and a number of university members. Through a presentation, Dr. Sherif Fakhry reviewed the emergence of the Egyptian Russian University and its various faculties, its human and material resources, and the great development in scientific research and international publication for the university members amounted to 610 research published in internationally indexed journals. Moreover, the president expressed his warmest congratulations to the members of the university on the issuance of the ministerial decision to start studying at the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Technical Languages.

The Vice President of the University moderated the “Panorama of Scientific Research of the Egyptian Russian University” session, where a number of faculties’ members at the university shed light on the most prominent and latest research and research activities. Dr. Tamer Saleh, at the Department of Communications Engineering and Executive Director of the Huawei Academy at the university, presented the research exhibitions in which the students participated, including the electric car project, as well as the activities of the Robots Lovers Group (RGS) at the faculty. Furthermore, he reviewed the protocol of cooperation with the Egyptian Space Agency and research cooperation with them through the faculty’s research satellite laboratory, and the protocol of cooperation with the international company Huawei through the establishment of Huawei Academy inside the university. Dr. Magdi Raouf, at the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, presented models for research work in the department. Dr. Hani Ragab and Dr. Ahmed Hassanein, at the Construction Department, reviewed examples of the department’s scientific production.
Dr. Ahmed Saeed, the Director of the Scientific Research Development Unit at the university, displayed the unit’s goals and interest in conducting research studies in the field of turbid water treatment and drains, beside its interest in joint work with private and governmental universities and research centers, including the National Center for Housing and Building Research to establish a decentralized sewage treatment plant for agricultural purposes through funded projects by the Academy of Scientific Research and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Dr. Ahmed Saeed offered to publish some relevant research outputs and he reviewed the university’s participation in preparing extensive studies of the remnants of the electroplating industries and microplastic pollutants, which is a real challenge for African countries due to the lack of appropriate tools to measure it and the inability to track and dispose of it. The unit also participated in research on the removal of biological pollutants using artificial intelligence techniques. It is worth noting that a research was published on preventing the spread of infection from COVID19 using nanocomposites.

At the Department of Pharmaceutics, Dr.Hossam El-Sawy explained the international cooperation among the Egyptian Russian University King Abdulaziz University and Temple University in the United States of America, where a pharmaceutical preparation was created to deliver Atorvastatin drug through the skin to treat dyslipidemia and to improve bioavailability with up to three times effectiveness more than the effectiveness of oral delivery. This innovation is considered an economical alternative to the manufacture of tablets and it is also effective in improving the efficacy and safety of the drug. Dr. Mohamed Adel, at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, stated that the department’s research plan relies on two axes, the axis of drug modeling and design using specialized computer programs, such as research published in the field of combating the Corona pandemic with the latest global programs provided by the university, and the axis of analysis and synthesis of effective compounds towards various diseases to confront challenges that threaten the health of human beings at both levels, internationally and locally, in society in cooperation with major research bodies and institutions at the international level. A research has been published in cooperation with the Oncology Institute in the USA and the Universities of Florence in Italy and Blakay in the Czech Republic in order to combat cancer, which is considered one of the most dangerous diseases that threaten human life throughout history
Atl the faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Mahmoud Khaled sheds light on the latest applied research topics in the faculty in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Big data, Data and Coordination, Machine Learning Applications, Deep Learning Applications, Human-Computer Interaction, Natural Language Processing, Prediction, and Recognition of human activity based on depth, Plagiarism Detection, COVID-19 Detection, Text Summarization, Semantic Similarity Detection, Cyber Security, Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication, Internet of Things (IoT), Educational Games and E-Learning, Commerce Applications, Virtual Reality, Healthcare, Mobile healthcare, Biomedical Applications, Bioinformatics, Medical Imaging, Image Processing, Bio-mechatronics, Instrument-assisted rehabilitation, Bioengineering, Green Energy Assessment, Sustainable Waste Management, and an AI model to facilitate learning for children with autism and difficulties. He added that the researchers published 146 papers in indexed journals. They targeted critical areas such as wastewater treatment plant, municipal solid waste forecasting, common carotid artery diagnosis, automatic brain tumor diagnosis, breast cancer multi-classification, COVID-19 classification, and security risk assessment using artificial intelligence models.
At the Faculty of Management, Economics and Business Technology, Dr. Nihad Hosni Youssef, the Department of Accounting, reviewed models for students’ research projects in evaluating the impact of Corona pandemic on risk and performance indicators in Egyptian banks, a survey study of the perceived effects of the Corona pandemic (Covid 19) on the financial and operational performance of Egyptian companies, and the use of a model to predict financial success and failure in some companies.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abdel Majid Benamara expressed his happiness at his presence in the Egyptian Russian University and his acquaintance with the distinguished research activity in it.
