The details of signing a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Egyptian-Russian University…with pictures and objectives

The Egyptian-Russian University welcomed the visit of Dr. Salah Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity for Social Policies, to complete the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Egyptian-Russian University regarding the establishment of a social solidarity unit inside the university campus. This comes with the approval of Prof. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, in implementation of President El-Sisi’s directives concerning the need for an integration between the various sectors of the state in order to achieve Egypt’s 2030 Vision for sustainable development.

This comes in the light of the state’s strategic direction towards supporting and developing the human capital in knowledge, skills, and trends that people accumulate over their lives in a way that enables them to exploit their potential as healthy and productive individuals in society. This also comes in implementation of the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities headed by Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to establish a social solidarity unit in Egyptian universities.

Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel-Nabi, President of the Egyptian-Russian University, explained that psychological and social support for university students is an important contribution for preparing a good citizen who interacts positively with all the issues of the society in which he/she lives, preserves its traditions, customs, and values, and who produces and participates in developing the resources of the state and not only consuming them. He further noted that introducing the student to the areas and formal methods of community participation is an important pillar in preparing the graduate to be an active member of the society and civil society organizations.

The President of the Egyptian-Russian University expressed his happiness with the establishment of a social solidarity unit inside the campus headquarters in Badr City, Cairo Governorate, which will help achieve the university’s vision, mission, and goals: to meet the basic needs of students during their university studies or during the annual vacation, as well as these of new graduates after completing their studies, to promote peace, security, social justice,  and economic growth in the community, to raise awareness of the educational system, volunteer work, NGOs and the laws regulating them, and increasing investment rates in them, and to achieve the desired goals of integrated and sustainable development.

In the same context, Dr. Salah Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity for Social Policies, confirmed that the Ministry of Social Solidarity has initiated the establishment of social solidarity units in Egyptian universities in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, through which the Ministry of Social Solidarity provides a package of integrated social services for university students through “rehabilitation, educational, awareness-raising, economic, and therapeutic” programs. This is to reduce the risks that could impede youth development and focus on preparing them intellectually and skilfully for a better maximization to their capabilities so that they represent an effective economic value for themselves, their families, and their communities.

During the visit, the Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity for Social Policies, accompanied by the university President, inspected the headquarters of “The Unit of the Ministry of Social Solidarity”, which is being prepared inside the campus of the Egyptian-Russian University. He expressed his happiness and admiration for the university’s good selection of the unit’s headquarters within its campus. He also alluded that the work of the social solidarity unit at the university revolves around the following axes:

1- Social protection and economic empowerment of students.

2- Awareness and character building for students.

3- Supporting students’ knowledge and experience.
